Santosha (संतोष) is another Niyama in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, and it means contentment or inner satisfaction. It is the practice of accepting and appreciating the present moment as it is, without craving for more or resisting what is.
Key Aspects of Santosha:
• Gratitude: Appreciating what you have rather than focusing on what you lack.
• Equanimity: Maintaining inner peace in both pleasure and pain, success and failure.
• Self-acceptance: Being at peace with yourself—your strengths, weaknesses, and circumstances.
• Detachment from Outcomes: Doing your best without being overly attached to the results.
Santosha doesn’t mean passivity or complacency; rather, it’s about cultivating an inner state of peace while still engaging with life fully.
